Collegians Rugby League Football Club is made up of five venues with fantastic food operations;
  1. Collegians City
  2. Collegians Balgownie
  3. Collegians Figtree
  4. Collegians Illawarra Leagues Club; and
  5. Collegians Port Kembla Leagues Club. 
Exciting opportunities have opened to join the Collegians Team in the roles of Chefs and Apprentice Chefs.  Both roles require you to have a positive attitude, energy, be naturally friendly, service-oriented and of course cooking and food must be your passion.

Your responsibilities in the role of a CHEF include:

  • Being passionate about a career as a qualified Chef,
  • Assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food to the highest standard,
  • Providing input into menu development,
  • Be well presented at all times,
  • Ensuring that food recipes are followed properly during food preparation and cooking time,
  • Contributing to high levels of customer service,
  • Assisting with ordering and stock maintenance, 
  • Ensuring a clean, safe and hygienic Kitchen environment at all times,
  • Complying with all Work, Health and Safety regulations, policies and procedures, and
  • Undertaking any reasonable duties that may be assigned by the Head Chef or senior Manager.

Your responsibilities in the role as an APPRENTICE include:

  • Signing a Training Contract through Training Services NSW to work and train toward gaining a nationally recognised qualification in Cookery,
  • Attending off-the-job training from a Registered Training Organisation (eg TAFE) to complete a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery,
  • Learning the skills to safely prepare, cook and present a variety of food and how to clean and maintain the kitchen and equipment, and
  • Making every effort to acquire the skills and knowledge needed to successfully complete your apprenticeship.

To be a successful candidate for either of these roles you will:

  • Enjoy practical work,
  • Have good communication skills - verbal and written,
  • Be able to work as part of a team,
  • Be able to work quickly and safely in a fast-paced environment,
  • Be able to work under pressure,
  • Display good personal hygiene,
  • Be prepared to work a flexible schedule with irregular hours (inclusive of weekend and split shifts), and
  • Be able to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
