Bexley RSL is situated in Southern Metropolitan Sydney, 5km from Kingsford Smith airport and 15km from Sydney CBD.
 
Business Operations:

This is a profitable medium sized Club that has seen great growth over the past 4 years due to change in business operations and the introduction of good corporate governance. The Club has 105 gaming permits (95 in operation) contract caterers, one bar, large auditorium and presently resides on leased sub branch land. With 4300+ members the Club runs regular member promotions, raffles, Cash Housie & Bingo sessions. There are 20 dedicated staff with a Board of 7.
 
The Club has recently completed a small inhouse refurbishment on the members and gaming lounge with additional finishes to be completed by January 2020.

The Club uses external club accounting and gaming contractors to assist in the administration of that part of the business, which the Board are happy to continue with. 
 
The Right Person:

This is a great opportunity for someone to work hand in hand with the Board and present managers, in the role of General Manager. You will use and sharpen the management skills you have been given and ensure this club continues to be the ongoing success it is within the local community.

The successful GM will bring to this role:

Essential requirements:
  • Proven project management skills and experience focusing on master planning implementation
  • Proven experience in successful business plan strategy implementation
  • Proven capacity to pro-actively manage all aspects of a medium size club including gaming, marketing, promotions etc
  • Human resource management knowledge and skills within the club or hospitality industry
  • Results driven and self-motivated to achieve short and long term objectives
  • Proven ability to assess and review operations and to make recommendations to the board for continual improvement
  • Proven experience in reducing operational expenditure without compromising quality and comfort and member benefits
  • Proven initiative and ability to introduce positive change to the workplace
  • Relevant certificates recognised by ILGA (RSA and RCG)
  • Ability to become an Approved Manager as per ILGA
Desirable requirements:
  • Proven ability to think strategically in a changing environment
  • Proven strategic planning and implementation skills in the club industry
  • Attention to detail ensuring that all matters are followed up and concluded
  • Committed to self-improvement and ongoing learning within the industry
  • Capacity to establish positive relationships with key stakeholders and other business leaders  
  • Proven consultation and negotiation skills at a high level
