Accountant / Office Manager

Kempsey Macleay RSL is a progressive regional Club on NSW's mid-north coast.  The club is proud of its dedicated team of people and loyal membership making this club the heart of the community.  The Club has around 8000 members and operates across two (2) sites.  There are around 60 staff and a gaming installation of over 100.

The Club is looking for a person who is all about efficiency and accuracy to lead the office team in an encouraging and proactive way.  The role is for an Accountant / Office Manager who holds a CA/CPA qualification and can competently complete all the Accounting needs for a hospitality business like ours.  You will be reporting directly to the CEO and manage a small team of office staff. 

About the role:
  • Preparation and management of the daily accounting functions;
  • Oversee banking and cash control;
  • Cash flow monitoring and management;
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register;
  • Taxation preparation, compliance and statutory reporting (including BAS, PAYG, Payroll, FBT and Gaming; ASIC, Superannuation);
  • Complete monthly journals and balance sheet reconciliations;
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for the Board in accordance with agreed timelines;
  • Exception reporting and financial KPI preparation and analysis;
  • Process weekly payroll and accounts payable;
  • Debtor’s invoicing and payment management;
  • Liaise with external Auditors and coordinate annual audit program;
  • Year-end accounting, report preparation;
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Assist with annual budget preparation;
  • Make recommendation to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Club’s financial management and reporting; and
  • Undertake projects and develop business cases as required.
  • Manage Office Staff
About you:
  • Degree qualified accountant (CA or CPA preferred).
  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the end to end accounting function for a hospitality business including; payroll, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger and asset management would be an advantage 
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with club employees and club sub-committees.
  • Accurate with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Ability to direct a team and balance their workload 
  • Commercially astute with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience using Xero, Micropower, MPower would be an advantage.
