Muswellbrook is located in the Upper Hunter Valley, north of Newcastle between the towns of Singleton and Scone. It is 247 km North West of Sydney. Muswellbrook has a population of 12,000 people in a shire of 20,000. The main industries are horse breeding, wine making and grape growing along with mining and power generation.

Muswellbrook & District Workers Club is at the heart of the local community and is one of three registered Clubs in the town.
 
The Club has strong ties with the community and supports many sporting, cultural and philanthropic organisations. The Club has 61 poker machines and runs the latest EBET cashless Cardit system. The Odeum Restaurant and Cocktail Bar seats 180 and is the town’s premier dining location. There are two small function/meeting rooms seating 60 and 20 people respectively, the main bar seats 160 and has an active snooker and pool club and is home to the more traditional Keno, TAB, Bingo and Raffle activities. The Club is also proud of its twin cinema which is currently leased to a third party which adds over 60,000 unique visits per year and neatly dovetails with the Club’s catering operation.

The Club has also recently purchased a delicensed hotel and is currently reconfiguring it as an accommodation venue with an existing motel and pub style accommodation. Between the delicensed buildings we rent a building to a disabled group. We also have a building next door to the North of the Club with the capability for the future of a bed and breakfast facility. This building is also rented out at present.
 
We are currently seeking a new General Manager who will take control of what is an already successful business, who is a creative thinker and has strategic vision and who is capable of addressing the many and varied head winds that the alcohol and gaming industries face. 

The successful applicant will
be well supported by an experienced management team, including three senior chefs, a maître d, bar manager, administration manager and four Club supervisors. 
 
To be successful in this role you will:
  • Be an experienced Manager who has the ability to work with the Board to develop strategy and drive the Club
  • Possess sound financial management and reporting skills and ideally be experienced in the use of XERO and Receipt Bank
  • Have a complete understanding of gaming and be up to date with trends and market directions and have a thorough understanding of the EBET poker machine and membership management software.
  • Have a complete understanding of the running and administering of loyalty programs while using them to best effect to drive business in key market segments. 
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have a customer service focus
  • Have the ability to cost meals and liaise with the chef’s in the preparation and implementation of new menus
  • Have the ability to negotiate beverage deals and ensure bar costings and margins are maintained at agreed levels
  • Have a thorough understanding of the Registered and Licensed Club Awards and be able to maintain wage and salary expenses within parameters as determined by the Board
  • Have excellent skills in marketing and advertising
  • Have excellent understanding in key compliance areas including AML/CTF, W.H. & S., the Liquor Act, The Registered Clubs Act and Gaming Regulations
  • Be computer literate
  • Be able to lead, train and motivate the team
  • Be prepared to work the necessary hours to oversight this busy operation (While the job will be principally Monday to Friday you will be expected to represent the Club at key events and attend the Club at various out of hours times on a needs basis). 
  • Must hold current RSA and RCG certificates
