The Board of Directors of Port City Bowling Club are seeking a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to take lead of the club.  This will be a very sought after position being in one of NSW’s most attractive coastal cities which is perfect for both long term residents as well as having a vibrant tourist trade.  The current population of the city sits around 48,000 and boasts a vibrant urban environment with excellent predicted growth over the coming years.  The club is situated around 100m from the water and is going to offer the new CEO a huge array of exciting challenges and plans to keep you focused for the coming years.

The Club currently has a strong membership of 16,500 who enjoy the very modern facilities which include, three bars, two dining destinations (The in-house 110 seat Drift Cafe/Restaurant and the Eastern Tiger which is a 300 seat buffet), as well as 141 gaming machines, bowling greens and a small function room accommodating 90 pax.  Port City Bowling Club is definitely not your average bowling club. The club has grown to a team of around 75 and with that comes the exciting role of leading and developing a keen group of people with a range of skills.  The club is excited to be in a phase of continual improvement so to continue to keep its place as one of the best clubs in the region.  The CEO will be supported by an Operations Manager, Head Chef, Finance Manager, Gaming Manager, Marketing Coordinator and 4 Duty Managers.  The office team is also a great support to this role with between 3 and 4 admin staff.  Trading at the club has grown year on year with the current revenue at around $13 million with an EBITDA of around 15%.  This is one of those successful clubs in an amazing regional city that you MUST look at if you want to continue furthering your career at a club going places.

The Club is seeking a highly motivated CEO who is capable of exceptional leadership, successful operational management and an ability to also focus on carrying out the strategy and plans agreed to by the Board.  The club is about to commence one of a number of planned changes and improvements.  You will be coming into a club that is about to extend its restaurant from 110 pax to 190 pax and be continuing the excellent successes achieved by the outgoing CEO and the current Board.  There are then plenty of other strategic plans to get your teeth stuck into moving forward.

The Board are looking for a CEO who can be responsible for overseeing and managing all areas of the club including:  Financial Management; Human Resources; Recruiting, Training and Rostering; WH&S compliance; Risk Management; Promotions, Marketing and Entertainment; Gaming; F&B and Event Management along with all other areas of general management.

If you are interested in the role, make sure you tick many of the following requirements:

  • Have minimum 5 years Senior Management experience in hospitality
  • Have a proven record in all areas of financial management & reporting
  • Experience in management systems & internal controls procedures
  • Be self-motivated and reliable
  • Be able to represent the club in a professional manner to the community and stakeholders
  • Be well presented
  • Be able to work with programs such as Clubline & eBet Gaming Software and Microsoft applications
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have a strong customer service and community focus
  • Have sound knowledge of Club operations, legislation and compliance
  • Be able to lead, train and motivate a team
  • Be willing to continue with the change in management strategy
  • Have the ability to work cooperatively with Board in developing strategic plans & drive the club forward
  • Creative and innovative skills with revenue diversification
  • Experience in major building project management would be a distinct advantage
