The Board and Management are seeking the services of a hard-working and savvy business operator to undertake the Catering Contract on behalf of the Club.
The facts are simple:
- The Club operates in a tough market - various all you can eat options nearby
- The market is very price competitive - all you can eat options are around the $14 mark
- There has been a downturn in food in recent months
- The out-going Caterer has not maximised opportunities or marketed and promoted to drive business
- Current turnover is approximately $150K in the bistro and $60K in functions - but this can (and should) increase with the right operator
- The auditorium doubles as the bistro and function room (150 seats)
- The kitchen is currently set-up for Chinese cuisine
NB. The Club sees the opportunity in food to be good quality club/pub style, 'proper' meals that match the key price points of the competition but offer a value proposition alternative to the all you can eat venues nearby
The Management of the Club recognises the importance of food to the business and accordingly is willing to negotiate very generous terms to attract the right Caterer and equally as importantly, to provide them with the opportunity and time that they need to establish their business and turn things around. This includes (subject to successful negotiation):
- Some basic upgrades to the kitchen based on the new Caterer's requirements
- Rent free period of 6 months, possibly longer
- No utilities for the duration of the rent free period
- Assistance with marketing & promotions
The bistro currently trades seven days for lunch and six days for dinner (Monday nights off). The incoming Caterer will be expected to provide well trained staff that deliver exceptional service and presentation standards. You will need to have a sound understanding of the legislative requirements (OHS; Food Hygiene; Pay rates' etc) and be a capable business owner that has the ability to make this opportunity work.
Timelines: the Club would ideally like to appoint the new Caterer for commencement on Monday 12th April 2010.
