LATE MAIL: White Now would like to congratulate Tim Levesque for achieving the role of CEO with the Albury SS&A Club Group - CONGRATULATIONS !

We are not the ONLY ones writing fabulous ads - the Virgins are putting it out there as well !

White Now have a great reputation for taking your job ads and using our creative flair to ensure that you are attracting THE best group of candidates to choose from.  We have a knack for making sure that your ad attracts suitable applicants by telling them ALL that they would need to know to entice them to make the decision to apply.  White Now take the WIIFM approach to writing ads - we write job ads to answer the reader's main question "What's in it for me".  Let's face it, people apply for jobs dependant on what they can get both personally and professsionally from the job.  What is the employer giving them that no-one else is offering ?  Why does someone apply for your role and not another ?  The task of an employer in developing an ad is to make sure that they get as many applicants as possible who actually not only suit the position but actually WANT the role.  When writing the ad, tell the reader about all the great things that the company has to offer and what you are going to give them if they win the job - and we don't just mean money.  That is not the main motivator for people to apply.

Some of the key motivators that attract people and drive them to want to apply for a role include:

- The receipt of ongoing recognition and feedback
- A manager who recognises what motivates individuals
- Rewards that suit the individual
- Flexibility to fit into personal needs
- Recognition that sometimes personal appointments need to be taken in standard work hours
- Parking or proximity to public transport
- Flexibility in hours and days of work
- Support with personal needs such as childcare etc
- Values based culture
- Non traditional environment with fun activities
- Support and encouragement to develop and grow
- Further education opportunities
- Being kept in the loop about where the company is headed
- Security of a future with the company
- All the tools of the trade needed to achieve in the role will be supplied
- Access to any legal and ethical perks that others don't offer (such as meals, gym membership etc)
- Additional Superannuation payments
- A safe work place and a safe area
- Social club or team environment
- An environment that provides all personal needs such as good schools and hospitals in the area, support for any disabilities or medical challenges etc
- Good money !

You can see from this list that there are only a few key drivers that actually relate to money.

Make sure that when you write your job ads that you outline all the great stuff that the new employee will find if they join you wthin your organisation.

White Now offer FREE job ad writing with all ads lodged on the White Now website .......... Did you know that 96% of White Now clients take up this option and with good reason - A job ad costs as little as $215 plus GST for an ad placed for up to 8 weeks, which includes the ad written for FREE !

THIS IS JUST ANOTHER GREAT WHITE NOW SERVICE to help our clients get the best result !!

Here is an excerpt  from a job ad written by the team at Virgin Active (Gymnasiums) - we picked this ad up from a well known job website  .......... It's not only White Now who know how to write great ads - if the Virgin brand does it as well, it must make good sense!

"We're looking for fun, fit and feisty people with that certain 'Virgin-ness'.  WAHEY.  We smile a lot and we always put our people first.  So come and work with us at Virgin Active - it's going to be fun.  You like?

We're after a Customer Service Manager with a near fanatical zeal to help us bring it on in our shiny health club.  You should have that certain 'Virgin-ness'; because we're all in this thing called fitness, together.  You'll be heading up a team that's all about building relationships, not just memberships.  We're freaky happy and we always put our people first, so you'll love it. 'Cause, duh, we're Virgin'.  We have set the bar really high for customer service and this could be your chance to jump over it.

Some stuff that will help you get the job:
You'll take the lead on dazzling the expectations of members and guests from the minute they walk in our doors. Your near superhuman attention to detail will also allow you to oversee the accuracy of our system and support the team with producing meticulous reports that help us really understand our business.

Do you need to love lycra?  Not especially, although you do need to be clued-up.  A customer service champion who delivers supremo service every minute of the day.  Exciting times.  With at least two years experience leading a team, you stand out because of your ability to always deliver the WOW factor for people and your success in recruiting, developing, motivating, deploying and retaining a high performing team. You're comfortable managing budgets and have the appetite and track record of exceeding performance targets.  Connecting with people comes naturally.  You're a people person.  A smiley type. One of us.

If this is you, then we'd love to:
Give you a challenge
Help you grow
Provide you with benefits
Listen to your new ideas
Work hard and play hard together

Love people?  Love health and fitness?  Love bananas?  Love to hear from you."

Ashlar Golf Club WILL be resurrected from the disaster ! 6 fantastic Facebook posts that you missed if you are not a FB 'White Now Go Getters' fan !

In the early hours of the morning on Tuesday 10th November 2009, Ashlar Golf Club's CEO, Craig Scott received a call from the club's alarm monitoring company informing him they had received multiple alarm activations from the golf club's club house. What was up he wondered, so at 2am, Craig rushed to the club. Upon arrival at the site he was met by in excess of eight fire crew who were already at work on extinguishing the fire that had already engulfed the club house.

What would go through a CEO's mind in a time like this ?

While investigations are still continuing into the cause of the blaze which has destroyed the club house, Craig and the Board of Directors are already looking to the future and have started work on the long road to recovery.

Craig has confirmed that the golf course has now re-opened for play and that temporary club house facilities are already in place with food and drinks available seven days per week. Now THAT is a quick reincarnation !

At this stage the club plans to re-build on the current site but expects the whole process to take up to two years. This means that NOW more than ever is the time for Ashlar members, visitors and the local community to get behind the club and support it through the tough times ahead.

If you are considering a round of golf through Summer, why not consider Ashlar ?

For information and directions to the Club, see the Club's website at www.ashlargolfclub.com.au

Here's the way we fixed a blockage on some work computers. Guess which 'Golden Boy' is full of beans and winning Awards for it  !

White Now are big Facebook and Twitter users - we use social media to get the word out about what's happening at any moment of the day in the world of White Now.  We use Facebook to give DAILY updates about how to develop a fantasmical resume, how to present well at interview, how to score that dream job and general business tips.

We recently faced a big dilemma.  We had our RSS Feeds (FB and Twitter Updates) appearing on our website on a number of pages so that they could be accessed when you access www.whitenow.com.au .  The problem that we found was that some companies are blocking FB and Twitter from being seen by their staff at work.  Because www.whitenow.com.au had the FB and Twitter RSS Feeds on it, many people could not access www.whitenow.com.au in their workplace !  WHAT A DISASTER !  So, White Now made a quick decision to remove the RSS Feeds from www.whitenow.com.au so that you can access www.whitenow.com.au at work (unless your employer has blocked us as well).

If you want to see our daily tips, then head to Facebook through the links below !

Would YOU recognise talent in an unexpected context or are you too busy to stop and listen?

The place: Washington, DC Metro Station
The time:  A cold January morning in 2007
The story:  The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time approximately 2,000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace, stopped for a few seconds and then hurried to meet his schedule.

Four minutes later:  The violinist received his first dollar - a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk.
Six minutes later: A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.
Ten minutes later: A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.
Forty Five minutes later:  The musician played continuously.  Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 people gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace.  The man collected a total of US$32.
One hour later: He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before, Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 a head.

Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities.

The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty?  Do we stop to appreciate it?  Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?
One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this:  If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.... How many other things are we missing?
