We’re now looking for an experienced People & Culture Manager to lead our people function and work closely with leaders across a large, diverse organisation. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this hands‑on senior leadership role will suit someone who genuinely enjoys building relationships, shaping culture and supporting leaders, while also rolling up their sleeves to deliver practical outcomes in a fast‑paced, service‑driven environment.
About the role This is a broad, influential role where no two days are the same. You’ll combine strong operational leadership with the opportunity to contribute to strategic People & Culture initiatives, balancing day‑to‑day delivery with longer‑term improvement and change.
You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team covering People & Culture, payroll, rostering, analytics, administration, organisational development and training, ensuring our people systems and practices support both employees and the business.
Key responsibilities include: - Building and nurturing a positive, values‑led workplace culture with strong engagement practices
- Coaching and supporting leaders to grow confident, high‑performing teams
- Leading succession planning, talent development and performance frameworks
- Partnering with leaders on recruitment and talent acquisition aligned to Wenty’s values and culture
- Managing employee relations matters with fairness, professionalism and care
- Overseeing payroll operations and contributing to remuneration, benefits benchmarking and annual salary reviews
- Owning WHS and workers compensation systems alongside broader compliance programs
- Preparing and presenting clear, meaningful people data and insights to support better decision‑making
- Driving continuous improvement across systems, processes, documentation and technology
- Supporting organisational change and delivering learning, capability and development initiatives
Our ideal candidate You’re an approachable, practical People & Culture leader who builds trust easily and is known for your calm, steady approach. You’re comfortable handling sensitive issues while maintaining strong standards, and you enjoy partnering with leaders to achieve positive outcomes for both people and the organisation.
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in HR, Business or a related discipline
- Senior experience in operational People & Culture leadership roles
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and compliance
- Proven ability to lead teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Confidence balancing hands‑on operational demands with strategic initiatives
- Sound judgement, strong problem‑solving skills and a solutions‑focused mindset
- The ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, changeable environment with competing priorities
- (Desirable) Experience in community‑based clubs or member‑focused service environments
