Orange Ex-Services' Club (OESC) is one of the leading clubs in NSW's Central West.  With a population of around 44,000, Orange is one of Australia's most significant regional cities and has grown to be the hub of NSW's Central West.  It's a booming city with great facilities including hatted restaurants, modern cafes, excellent private and public schools, extensive sporting facilities, its own airport and one of the leading hospitals in the State along with all the facilities that come with such a vibrant and popular city. 
 
With a strong membership of 20,000 and a dedicated staff of around 220, the club has two sites (The Main Club and The Wentworth Golf Club) which includes an 18-hole golf course, bowling green, pool and gymnasium along with a 10 court tennis complex and a 78 room motel (Mercure).  The Club has a gaming machine installation of around 250.  OESC is certainly the heart of Orange and its surrounds and is led by a strong Board of Directors consisting of nine (9) members. The club manages an annual revenue of around $30 million and is proud of its commitment to the community through giving back via high level grants and various ongoing support. The Club opened an exciting food and beverage precinct known as 'The Greenhouse of Orange'.  This is now the premier food and beverage destination in the area.  The Club is in a solid financial position with a range of growth strategies planned.  The new CEO will work with the Board to realise this strategy through continuing the Master Planning  along with ensuring ongoing success and growth of the club. 
 
The new CEO will come with a range of qualities suitable to managing a large regional club.  You must be community oriented; customer service focused; results driven; committed to your teams through excellence in leadership; act with integrity and honesty and work closely with the Board to carry out directives and provide the Board with solid, informative and guiding information.  
 
To be successful in this role as CEO, The Board will expect that the person will demonstrate the following attributes;
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic planning principles along with strategic thinking;
  • Ability to manage the agreed vision and direction;
  • Ability to manage and lead effective teams;
  • Ability to motivate teams to share the Club's vision and to continue to achieve in line with that vision;
  • Ability to demonstrate innovation in all areas of management;
  • Ability to embrace modern management and leadership principles;
  • Ability to guide the Club through growth and change;
  • Ability to focus on outcomes for not only financial results but people achievement results;
  • Aptitude for higher level communication, negotiation and problem solving;
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels and with all stakeholders of the business, demonstrating a constructive approach at all times.
The Board of Directors are looking forward to welcoming a new CEO to work with them to realise the future of the Club.  With this in mind, the new CEO would expect to;
  • Work with a Board who are positive about the future of the club and the fundamental role that the Club plays in the community;
  • Have the support of the Board and senior managers to grow the business in line with the agreed strategy;
  • Be a key part of the success of OESC;
  • Enjoy multiple challenges and projects;
  • Be able to manage the business in its entirety whilst managing the profitability of each department within the business;
  • Be instrumental in the setting, execution and delivery of budgets;
  • Be supported with the growth and development of your teams so that they are motivated to continue to achieve;
  • Be encouraged to continue your own self development and continued improvement at all levels; and
  • Be rewarded for your ongoing ability to achieve results.
The new CEO will be business savvy and be able to work well with the Board of Directors.  You will understand the importance of the Club within a regional community and be able to develop genuine relationships with key stakeholders within the Orange community. Your professionalism will never be in question and the pride in your work will be evident.  If you have completed studies in business or management, this will also be highly regarded.
