Wests Group Macarthur is a progressive group in Sydney's South-West, comprising of Western Suburbs League Club Campbelltown, Wests Tennis Club Campbelltown, Country Club Gledswood Hills and Lakeside Golf Club Camden. Our Clubs are home to over 300 staff and 80,000 members and offer an array of food, beverage, gaming, function, and sporting facilities. We currently have several development projects in the pipeline to enhance our members experience and pride ourselves on supporting and offering our local community exceptional experiences via our four, soon to be five growing destinations.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and committed Group Building & Development Manager with strong business and commercial acumen to plan, manage and deliver a program of capital works and commercial build projects across our registered Clubs.

The successful candidate will enjoy being strategic, whilst managing multiple challenges and building delivery expertise, to guide projects from design, to construction, to operating safely, efficiently, and to a high quality as we enter into the next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage building projects from scope through to completion
  • Manage and maintain the design process to set standards to meet the project charter
  • Continuously develop, implement, and monitor business strategies and plans for all building and services, including any extensions and renovations for the Group
  • Project planning, scheduling, cost control and budgeting
  • Preparation and lodgement of Development Applications
  • Effectively lead and support the Maintenance team and contractors to meet service expectations, requirements, and business strategies
  • Provide accurate planning advice, technical knowledge, and commercial awareness on all building projects
  • Communicate with all stakeholders and authorities, resolving issues, and coordinating various tasks as required for the successful management of projects

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Demonstrated, recent experience managing and delivering commercial building projects
  • Experience managing and coordinating planning proposals, master planning, feasibility, DA approvals, conservation management plans, business case and consultant management
  • Excellent established communication and people skills, including team management, negotiation and conflict resolution, and experience in managing effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement contracts, external design consultants, and building contractors
  • Technical knowledge of building materials and construction methods
  • Demonstrated experience managing safety, regulatory and security aspects in commercial building projects
  • 'People person’ with the capacity and willingness to contribute to the broader organisation success and culture
  • Ability to manage a range of competing priorities
  • Highly developed communication and report writing skills
  • Tertiary qualification in relevant discipline such as Building/Construction Management, Project Management or Engineering
  • Current drivers’ licence
