Dubbo Golf Club is a successful regional Club with a 27 hole Championship course. In recent years the Club has hosted the NSW Men's Regional Qualifier Rounds and the 2020 NSW Women's Golf Open, which was a great success for the City, the Club and our golfing community. It hosts the annual Macquarie Cup through the Easter period. Dubbo is the hub of western New South Wales with a population of around 45,000 and a regional 'shopping' population of 150,000. The City also serves as a very popular tourist centre with the Taronga Western Plains Zoo as one of the many attractions.

The Board of Directors of Dubbo Golf Club (9 Directors) are keen to recruit a suitably qualified professional in the role of General Manager (GM), to lead an energetic team in furthering the development of the Club's operations. Reporting to the President, the GM will lead the day-to-day operations of the Club with a primary focus on member satisfaction and business development. You will be a person who has a solid understanding of golf including rules, tournaments, sponsorship, sport development and the course. We recently received a state government grant of $1.3 million enabling the completion of an irrigation system and clubhouse improvements. We are open to a GM who would embrace other development opportunities to supplement current revenue.

The Club has around 1,300 members including golfing and social members. We have a small gaming installation of 20 EGM's and operate through the Global Gaming system. Our Pro shop is contracted to the Central West Golf Centre and is operated by our Golf Professional, Craig Mears and his team. On course, we employ a Course Superintendent as well as 6 course staff. As General Manager, you will be supported by a financial officer, an Administration Manager, a Bar Manager and a team of around 20 dedicated staff. Our Contracted Caterer, the Fairways Asian Restaurant, boasts the best Asian food in Dubbo.

We are looking for a General Manager with all round skills in back of house, front of house and golf. Our accounting and operational software includes Xero, MiMembership, SwiftPOS and the Microsoft Suite. You will bring your strong understanding of accounts and financial reporting to this role. Your mix between financial administration, golf passion and hospitality customer service will be an attractive asset to the role. Responsibilities will include:

  • Development of systems and strategies that will support our team of professional staff to deliver industry leading customer service to our members;
  • Management of the team responsible for day to day operations of the Club;
  • Proactive management and planning for the strategic development of the Club, including the possibility of residential developments;
  • Development of innovative ideas for continual improvement of services to Members and guests;
  • Ability to develop successful applications to access available Government grants;
  • Contribution to, and support of, policies approved by the Board of Directors;
  • Implementation of the strategic plan by monitoring and reporting its progress and ensuring that the Club's budgetary processes support the roll out of the plan;
  • Management and overseeing of all Club processes and systems;
  • Promotion of the Club and its facilities in the local community and throughout the broader golf market.

As part of your application for the role we are especially interested in understanding your:

  • Success in managing a golf club or similarly customer focused business;
  • Experience in marketing including use of digital and social media;
  • Commitment to customer service and your ability to measure success in this area;
  • Experience in innovation in service and business development;
  • Ability to manage the implementation of a strategic plan and to measure the success of its delivery;
  • Business development skills and experience;
  • Strength in communication with members, key stakeholders and clients;
  • Experience in leading a team to success;
  • Financial, budgeting, reporting and analytical skills.

The remuneration package includes a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
