The Opportunity

Everglades Country Club is a well-established hospitality business undergoing significant change in its structure and strategic mind-set. This has created an opportunity for an experienced manager to lead the Club’s operations.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Head of Club Operations and Sport will play a significant role in the execution of the Club’s operational strategy aimed at developing a high performance culture that embraces operational excellence across all areas of the business.

About the Role

This position requires a commercially astute person with an organised mind to manage multiple tasks in a calm and professional manner. The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills that can deliver operational leadership which enhances our employment culture and ensures exceptional customer service.

The role would suit someone with 3-5+ years’ experience in a similar role. You need to demonstrate experience in cultural change resulting in high levels of customer engagement. Experience at managing golf and bowls related activities would be an advantage.

You will be working in a hands-on, fast paced environment with a broad range of responsibilities which will include the following duties:

  • Liaise with staff, Managers and Supervisors to ensure smooth daily operations.
  • Contribute to Everglades’ leadership and culture strategy and planning initiatives, identifying operational needs and implementing fit for purpose solutions.
  • Ensure legal compliance with the Registered Clubs Act and Regulations, Liquor Act, Food Act, Gaming Act and Regulations, RSA, RCG, HACCP and WHS.
  • Manage the day to day safety and security of the Club through effective internal practices and external contractors.
  • Develop, implement and review operational strategies, KPIs and budgets in order to track day to day and ongoing business performance. Develop corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Work with Club Managers and staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Oversee employment recruitment, rostering, counselling and ensure disciplinary practices are compliant.
  • Oversee cleaning and facilities management, ensuring the Club premises and surrounds are cleaned and well maintained.
  • Oversee sports operations including golf and bowls through maintaining day to day communication with the Pro Shop, Golf and Bowls Committees.
  • Liaise with Pro Shop to identify potential impacts of golf demand on Club operations.
  • Work with Club social groups to ensure successful implementation of social promotion packages.
  • Work closely with the Golf Professional, Golf Committees and Head of Marketing and Promotions to identify cross promotion and marketing opportunities.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualifications in Hospitality or Club Management. Minimum Cert IV.
  • RSA and RCG Certification and First Aid Certificate.
  • 3 to 5+ years’ experience in a similar role involving operational leadership and team building.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to develop relationships with Club employees, sub-committees, suppliers and members.
  • Accurate with attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, able to prioritise, meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Commercially astute with excellent problem solving skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Experience using Tanda, Senpos, IGT Advantage, MiClub would be an advantage.
