Almost exactly halfway between Sydney and Melbourne and just 2.5 hours to Canberra, Wagga Wagga is NSW’s largest inland city with an estimated population of over 65,000 people. About the Employer:

Rules Club Wagga Wagga is a community based Club which has been in operation for over 40 years. The Club houses a modern function centre, modern bistro and café dining facilities (managed internally), two bowling greens, a football oval and operates an 80 room four star hotel from their site. The Club has a membership of around 10,500 with a gaming installation of 162 EGM's.

The Role:

We are seeking a General Manager to report directly to our 7 Board of Directors. You will be supported by an Operations Manager, Hotel Manager, Business Manager, and an Events Manager. The Club has around 60 staff in total. You will play a key role in providing leadership and management of the senior team. You will be a leader who is inspirational, a motivator and have the business acumen to deliver sound financial results. The Board are looking for a General Manager who can be responsible for overseeing and managing all areas of the Club including Financial Management; Human Resources; Recruiting, Training and Rostering; WH&S compliance; Risk Management; Promotions, Marketing and Entertainment; Gaming; F&B and Event Management along with all other areas of general management.

Essential requirements:

  • Proven management skills with an ability to lead your team to achieve success
  • Proven experience in successful business plan strategy implementation
  • Proven capacity to pro-actively manage all aspects of a club including gaming, marketing, promotions etc
  • Human resource management and IR knowledge and skills within the club or hospitality industry
  • A sharp knowledge of WHS requirements and compliance
  • Results driven and self-motivated to achieve short- and long-term objectives
  • Proven ability to assess and review operations and to make recommendations to the Board for continual improvement
  • Ability to oversee the financial management of a multi-faceted business with differing needs
  • Proven experience in reducing operational expenditure without compromising quality, comfort and member benefits
  • Proven initiative and ability to introduce further revenue driving ideas to the business
  • A history of implementing ideas that are 'out of the box' and successful
  • Proven experience in being solution focused with challenges
  • Capacity to establish positive relationships with key stakeholders and other business leaders
  • The ability to represent the Club in the local Wagga Wagga community in a professional and positive manner
  • Proven consultation and negotiation skills at a high level
  • Excellent financial business acumen
