SEEKING:  A PASSIONATE, COMMITTED & OUTSTANDING COMMUNICATOR

The RSL & Services Clubs Association (RSLSCA) is the leading advocate representing the unique interests of around 170 Registered RSL, Ex-Services, Memorial, ANZAC, Legion or similar Clubs throughout NSW.

The Association also manages two other unique entities; The Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge Benevolent Fund; and the Veterans Benevolent Fund.

This year, on 30th of November, will see the retirement of our long serving CEO, Garrie Gibson who has lead the Association for over 7 years.  The RSLSCA is looking to secure the services of a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to commence on or around 1st November 2021 which will include a handover period of up to a month. This provides a unique and rare opportunity to lead a recognised organisation.

The successful person will continue and extend on the great work achieved throughout Garrie's tenure and continue to observe the brand's integrity and identity within the industry.

It is suffice to say that this is a high profile position within the NSW Club Industry and beyond.  The opportunity will attract those who have an understanding and empathy with the RSL (and related) Club movement.   This is a very interactive and visible role that requires travel and representation at a range of events and meetings across the state and interstate.

Reporting to a Board of Directors of 7 members (each drawn from a member club - see here for Director profiles), the new CEO will manage a small team in a hands-on leadership role.  You will be a person who can demonstrate absolute and unfaltering professionalism in every setting.  You will be comfortable with public speaking as well as savvy and confident to represent the association in the public media.  You will be someone who can move seamlessly between the Association's members, corporate and Government agencies and related Industry Associations. The role includes instigating, cultivating and maintaining collaborative partnerships that are mutually rewarding.  You will ensure strong relationships with the Association's corporate partners and ensure that their support is recognised and expectations exceeded.

In this multi-faceted role, you will manage and drive the very successful 'Kokoda Youth Leadership Program' which is both a rewarding and popular program.  You will also promote and administer the 'Veterans Benevolent Fund' which is overseen by a Board of 5 members.

As a leading Association, you will position yourself as an integral part of the organisation and management of a range of events such as the Gaming and Leadership Conference (in partnership with Leagues Clubs Australia) and the Association's National Conference.  You will also organise an annual CEO Leadership Symposium, webinars and up to 20 regional meetings a year. It is important to recognise that this is a role that needs someone who has all round experience at all levels and can assist with all tasks at hand.

As a key part of the future of the Association, you will join with the Board of Directors in formulating strategies to continue to develop the RSLSCA and maintain its relevance and importance to the future of the industry. The Board of Directors are happy to offer flexible working arrangements that may include a mix of 'work from home' and office.

You will come to the role with the ability to manage both the financial performance of the Association as well as its operational performance.  You must be able to deliver on strategy and meet targets. You will combine your advocacy and management skills to represent member clubs through effective communication, ongoing research and provision of quality resources and services that are of benefit to the Association's members.  You will continue to find opportunities to lead the way in innovation to support and grow the membership.

This role will appeal to someone who is consultative, persuasive and articulate across all communication methods as well as having great empathy with the traditions that the RSL and similar clubs represent.  In saying this, we are very open to any and all the experience and back ground that you can bring to the role.
